Keep those receipts! (Wednesday Weekly Shopping)

I invite you to link up to your best grocery deals below, to inspire others to save more!

Usually, after I write up my shopping trips on Thursday or Friday, I get rid of my receipts.  Big mistake.

I did remember to keep my Publix receipt, which I needed to apply for the Running Out? Run In rebate.  But I threw out a Walmart receipt, where I had bought a few miscellaneous items.  And now I'm not sure what I got.

So I'm giving it my best guess below.  Here's what I think I got:

And, I bought a 100 oz bottle of apple juice and 2 packages of tortillas at Walmart, spending $4.64.  I think.

Overall, this week I spent $117.38 for items which retail for $226.98, or a 48% savings based on the retail value of the products at the stores where they were purchased.

For the year (21 weeks), I spent $1,711.05 for items which retailed for $2,942.87 and saved $1,231.82, or a 42% savings. That's an average of $81.48 spent each week for a family of five (husband, wife, and daughters ages 15, 12, and 8), including lots of fresh produce, dairy items, and kosher meat, as well as paper and plastic goods, health and beauty items, and cleaning supplies.

In 2011, I spent $4,017.13 for items which retailed for $7,344.08, saving 45% and spending an average of $77.25 per week for the year.

In 2012, I spent $4,007.13 for items which retailed for $7,591.37, saving 47% and spending an average of $77.06 per week for the year.
