CVS: My good coupon deed of the day
This week's sales for CVS and Walgreens weren't nearly as great as the Black Friday ads. But I expected that. (Check out my CVS Black Friday and Walgreens Black Friday hauls.)
I decided to skip Walgreens altogether, but headed over to CVS to get the free contact lens cleaner deal. But, sadly, they were all out when I got there early Sunday afternoon.
But they had plenty of Xtra detergent. I had originally planned to get 8 bottles, but realized at the store that the sale would come back and settled on 4 bottles.
When I got in line to pay, a woman carrying two detergent bottles lined up behind me. I got out my coupons, turned around to her, and said, "Do you have a coupon for the detergent?" She said no, so I handed her one of my extra Xtra coupons.
So I feel happy about being able to do a good coupon deed!
Here's the details on the purchase:
4 Xtra laundry detergent @ $1.49 = $5.96
- 2 $1/2 Xtra Laundry Detergent, exp. 12/31/11 (SS 11/13/11 R)
= $3.96 for four, or 99¢ each
Total product: $3.96
Pay with $3.99 in ECBs from Black Friday (rounded down to $3.96)
Total product after ECBs: $0.00
Tax: 36¢
Total out of pocket: 36¢
Total saved compared to CVS full prices: $11.96
ECBs received: $1 for using my green bag tag four times

That was a very nice thing to do, and maybe you converted a new couponer!
That is nice. I once had clipped extra paper towel coupons because I was worried that the diapers in my deal may be out. It turned out they were stocked and I didn't need the coupons. A lady ahead of me had the same paper towel coupon where the date had been clipped off and the cashier was rejecting it I offered her my coupon and she was over-joyed. I love little acts of kindness.
