Walgreens: Why I didn't get all the free stuff
I took a trip over to Walgreens this morning to get some of the great deals! But I didn't go too crazy over them - I didn't get things just because they were free. Here are my criteria:
- If it was a moneymaker after coupons and rewards, I bought it, even if it wasn't something I needed. I can find someone to give it to, or I can donate the item.
- If it was free after coupons and rewards, and I could use it, I bought it.
- If it was free after coupons and rewards, and I didn't need it, I didn't buy it. Most items at the drug stores are taxable, and I didn't want to pay the tax (based on the full price, usually) on items I didn't need. Plus the stock of the free items were limited, and I wanted to leave the products for people who really wanted it.
2 Bic Flex 4 razors 3 pack @ 2/$6 (receive $4 Register Rewards)
- 2 $2/1 BIC 3 or 4 Blade Disposable Razor printable
= $2.00 ($2.00 moneymaker after RRs)
1 Crest 3D White Vivid toothpaste @ $2.50 (receive $2.50 RR)
- $1/1 Crest Toothpaste or Liquid Gel, exp. 11/30/11 (P&G 10/30/11)
= $1.50 ($1.00 moneymaker after RRs)
2 Scunci elastics @ 2/$3 (receive $3 RR)
(this rung up as $2.99, for some reason)
1 Preparation H Totables 10 pack @ $2.75 (receive $2.75 RR)
- $2/1 Preparation H Product printable
= 75¢ ($2.00 moneymaker after RRs)
2 Charmin Basic @ $2.99 (with in-ad coupon from regular weekly ad) = $5.98
- 2 $0.25/1 Charmin Product, exp. 11/30/11 (P&G 10/30/11)
= $5.48 for two, or $2.74 each
Total product: $12.72
Pay with $6 RR from last week
Total product after RRs: $6.72
Tax: $1.05

That's awesome. I just had to commend you for your reasonable attitude. If everyone shopped the way you do, maybe we wouldn't have so many "limit 3" signs on sales!
:o)
