CVS: Not-so-extreme shopping

Today at CVS, there was a very good price on laundry detergent: $1.49 for a 28-load bottle of Xtra laundry detergent. So how many did I buy? 20? 30?

Nope, just 2.

You see, I know that this price will come back, and I already have two bottles in my stockpile. So I bought two more, because I think that before I use up those four bottles, they will go on sale for $1.49 again.

Now, had it been free after coupons, I might have bought a few more bottles.  But not any more than I could store.  There is such a thing as too much of a good thing!

Here's what I got at CVS:

2 Xtra laundry detergent @ $1.49 = $2.98

2 Speed Stick deodorant @ $2.75 = $5.50 (receive $4 ECB)

1 Listerine Total Care Zero, 500 mL @ $3.99 (receive $2 ECB)
- $1/1 Listerine Zero, exp. 12/31/11 (SS 02/27/11)
= $2.99 (99¢ after ECBs)

Total product = $11.47
Pay with $3 ECB from last week
Total after ECBs: $8.47
Tax: 75¢
Total out of pocket: $9.22
ECBs received: $7 ($4, $2, $1 for using my green bag tag four times)
Saved: $10.48
