Wednesday Weekly Shopping: Skipped the drug stores

I invite you to link up to your best grocery deals below, to inspire others to save more!

Last Sunday was Mother's Day, and it's also the day that I normally go to the drug stores to get the good deals (assuming they're still there by the afternoon...).  But this week, I decided to stay away.  I have plenty of items in my not-so-extreme personal care stockpile - so much so that I donated many items yesterday - and even though some of the deals looked good, it wasn't enough to get me out shopping.

And isn't that what stockpiling is all about?  Once you have a good collection of the things you need every day, you don't need to go shopping every single week.  You can take off a week, or a couple of weeks, or even a whole month (like when I eat from the pantry).

But, we still needed to get perishable foods, and we were almost out of cereal, so I made two trips each to ALDI, the produce store, and Publix.  Here's what I got this week (click on the link below the picture for more details about the trip):

Not pictured is my first ALDI trip, where I spent $26.74, and a quick Publix trip where I purchased 2 salad dressings, 1 bunch of bananas, and 1 box of granola bars. On that trip, I spent $5.32 and saved $4.67.

Overall, this week I spent $79.57 for items which retail for $137.97, or a 42% savings.  (But don't compare percentages! Please!)  My real savings was approximately $14.

For the year (19 weeks), I've spent $1369.77 for items which retail for $2685.50, and saved $1315.73, or a 49% savings. That's an average of $72.09 spent each week for a family of five (husband, wife, and daughters ages 13, 10, and 6), including lots of fresh produce, dairy items, and kosher meat.
See all my shopping here.

How did your shopping go this week? What bargains did you get? Please leave a link to your blog post about your weekly shopping. The aim is not to brag, but to inspire!  Please link up directly to your post, not to the blog itself. I'd appreciate it if you put a link to Wednesday Weekly Shopping in your post as well. If you don't have a blog, please leave a comment!
