Walgreens: My favorite go-to item

I took a trip over to Walgreens this afternoon. My plan was to buy Dunkin Donuts coffee and Nabisco crackers, using the $3 in Register Rewards that I had from last week and was expiring on Saturday.

But, my plan was thwarted. Walgreens didn't carry Dunkin Donuts decaffeinated coffee, which is the only kind we keep around the house. And the only Nabisco crackers on sale were under 5 ounces; the coupons I had specified that the product had to be at least 6 ounces.

So, what was I to do? I decided to go to my favorite go-to item when needing to use up Register Rewards: toilet paper.  With two Register Rewards and one item, I also needed to add another item to my purchase.  I wanted to buy one of the 39¢ activity books, but the store was out of them.  So I gamboled down the office supply aisle and found a decorative pencil.  I was shocked that it was 39¢ - for a pencil? - but I went with it.

Here's what I ended up getting:

1 Charmin Ultra Soft 6 pack @ $3.49
1 pencil @ 39¢ (extra item)

Total product: $3.88
Pay with $3 RR ($2, $1) from last week
Total product after RRs: 88¢
Tax: 24¢
Total out of pocket: $1.12
Total saved: $4.30
