Menu plan 8-6-12: Time for cheap dinners

My grocery bill has gone over budget for the last couple of weeks, ack!  So it's time this week to keep meals really cheap and use up the food I have stored in my pantry.

So here are my dinner plans:

Monday - spaghetti with meat sauce, salad

Tuesday - grilled tilapia, orzo, salad

Wednesday - sundried tomato pesto whole wheat pizza

Thursday - veggie chili over brown rice

Friday - chicken soup with matzah balls, baked chicken wings, pasta with garlic and oil, salad, challah

Saturday: whole wheat waffles

Sunday - eat out!

My grocery budget has been over by $10-$20 for the past few weeks too. The coupon deals in the area have been lacking!

We have also struggled with keeping the grocery budget on target. This week I have $50. I spent $37.00 yesterday and $3.00 today and basically I am hoping that is it for the week. I bought 3 lbs of ground beef and two steaks, I still had a pkg of chicken in my freezer and half a ham in my fridg so hopefully it will last us the week. I bought all produce except some cold med for one that is sick. (Which should not count as grocery but it had to come out of the grocery budget so we are going to make due.) Tonight we are haivng Chicken, Last night we all had veggie plate, tomorrow is mexican salads, I will do the ham with canned pineapples, and that will 3 meals we will do the fish and steaks for one of the three meals. We will do breakfast with eggs I got for .99 last week so that will give us just one meal left to deal with to get creative and we will have 1.5 lbs of ground beef so I am guessing it will be something with that. So we should do ok.
