This week, I only went to Publix, ALDI, and Walgreens - I skipped CVS again and didn't go to any other supermarkets in my area. I'm getting used to doing less shopping... although I miss the deals I was getting. But with school starting up again, I'll probably start checking out more deals in my area.
Here's what I got this week:
Overall, this week I spent $76.84 for items which retail for $138.74, or a 45% savings based on the retail value of the products at the stores where they were purchased. (But don't compare percentages!)
For the year (33 weeks), I spent $2,481.26 for items which retailed for $4,753.23 and saved $2,271.97, or a 48% savings. That's an average of $75.19 spent each week for a family of five (husband, wife, and daughters ages 15, 11, and 7), including lots of fresh produce, dairy items, and kosher meat, as well as paper and plastic goods, health and beauty items, and cleaning supplies.
In 2011, I spent $4,017.13 for items which retailed for $7,344.08, saving 45% and spending an average of $77.25 per week for the year.
