The secret to finding great ALDI deals

What's the best part about ALDI shopping?  The low prices are great, but a tad predictable.  The fact you can get in and out quickly is great, but the limited selection is part of the reason why.

No, the best part about shopping at ALDI for me is going to the special buy aisle.  That's where I find unexpected deals at great prices.  But some of the deals there just aren't all that great.

So here's my secret to finding great ALDI deals: Look at the signs.  If they are just printed, chances are it's not a great deal.  But if they are handwritten - if the original price is crossed out and a new, lower price is written on the sign, then chances are it's a very good deal - an item that they want to get out of their inventory as quickly as possible.

This week, I found 12 oz jarred mushrooms for $1.29.  Since a 4-oz can of mushrooms in the vegetable aisle is 59¢, buying them here will save you 48¢ compared to buying three 4-oz cans.

I also found sprinkles on sale for 49¢ each.  This was the same price as last week, when all they had was red and green sprinkles.  This time, there were also chocolate and multicolored sprinkles, so I got some of those as well.  These sprinkles work great on birthday cakes, cookies, and peanut butter balls!

Here's what I got:

4 dozen eggs @ $1.09 = $4.36
1 apple juice concentrate @ 92¢
2 cream cheese @ $1.19 = $2.38
1 lb shredded cheddar @ $2.99
2 trays multi-colored peppers @ 99¢ = $1.98
2 cucumbers @ 29¢ = 58¢
1 grape tomatoes @ 99¢
1 strawberries @ $1.79
2 baby carrots @ 69¢ = $1.38
1 celery @ $1.19
1 3-lb apples @ $2.59
5 jars mushrooms @ $1.29 = $6.45
4 baking sprinkles @ 49¢ = $1.96
1 20-ct tortillas @ $1.99
1 juice pouches @ $1.79
2 whole wheat bread @ $1.29 = $2.58

Tax: 11¢
Total spent: $35.92
Savings compared to ALDI full prices: $4.40

However bread I will travel to Dollar Tree and get Sunbeam of Natures Own for 1.00. I love Aldis as well for there low price milk often 1.89 per gallon.
