Apply for jobs online

Looking for jobs today isn't like it used to be. While making a paper resume is still a good idea, you'll need to use 21st century skills to apply for jobs:

  • Create a LinkedIn account.  Link with previous employers and co-workers, as well as anyone who can vouch for you.  Ask those people to write recommendations for you.
  • Mention to your friends on Facebook that you are looking for a position.  Word of mouth still works best to find a job.
  • Look for jobs on employment sites specific to your field.
  • Apply for jobs online.  If you and people you know are looking for walmart careers or other similar stores, check their site, use a general-purpose application site, or go into a store - many will have a terminal set up just for people wishing to apply.
