Three Thrifty Things 3-19-12

Welcome to Three Thrifty Things at Frugal Follies!

I've noticed that sometimes I get so busy with blogging about frugality that I'm not doing the frugal things that got me to start this blog in the first place!  So each week I'll be listing three things I'll do that week, beyond the typical day-to-day tasks I already do, to either help save money or to bring in extra income.  That way, I'll be practicing what I preach, so to speak.

I skipped last week, but I still only got two of my three things done!

Last week's Three Thrifty Things:
  1. Concentrate on not wasting food.   I've been doing much better on this one!
  2. Shop for a new vacuum.  Purchased!  Also got a new dishwasher.  We got a good price and got a rebate as well!
  3. Make banana bread. I didn't do this, though I did make brownies.
This week's Three Thrifty Things:
  1. List items on Half.com and Amazon.com.  My daughter cleaned out her closet and unearthed tons of stuff, including children's toys and books that even my youngest is too old for.  This will take a few weeks to get through.  This week, I'm hoping to list some of the hardback children's books that I don't want to keep in our book collection on Half.com and Amazon.com.
  2. Clean out under and inside the couches and under furniture.  Who knows how much stuff and money might be hiding under there?
  3. Work on my youngest daughter's afghan.  I've been working on a granny square afghan for my daughter for a while, but lately I haven't worked on it much, so I'll try to get going on that again.
