Wednesday Weekly Shopping: End of 2011 totals

I invite you to link up to your best grocery deals below, to inspire others to save more!

It's the end of the year!  And here's how I did with my grocery shopping this year:
  • I spent a total of $4017.13 on groceries this year.  That includes food and beverages, cleaning supplies, paper and plastic products, and health and beauty aids.  These items were bought at stores such as Publix, ALDI, Winn-Dixie, Target, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, and other local supermarkets and produce stores.
  • The retail price of these items at the stores where they were purchased was $7344.08.
  • That means I saved 45% on my groceries this year.
  • More importantly, over 52 weeks, I averaged $77.25 per week for groceries for a family of five (husband, wife, and daughters ages 14, 11, and 6), including lots of fresh produce, dairy items, and kosher meat.
  • My per-week budget for groceries was $80 per week.  So I stayed under budget for the year!
Please post your yearly totals with the linky below, or leave a comment!  I'd love to know how you did this year.

It seems anticlimactic, but here's what I got this week:

Overall, this week I spent $103.06 for items which retail for $136.44, or a 24% savings based on the retail value of the products at the stores where they were purchased.  (But don't compare percentages!)

How did your shopping go this week? What bargains did you get? Please leave a link to your blog post about your weekly shopping. The aim is not to brag, but to inspire!  Please link up directly to your post, not to the blog itself. I'd appreciate it if you put a link to Wednesday Weekly Shopping in your post as well. If you don't have a blog, please leave a comment!
