CVS: Free jelly!

I have to admit, I feel a little guilty about my CVS trip.

When you leave the store and haven't given any money at all, or swiped a debit or credit card, it feels a little wrong. But this trip I was able to leave without paying any cash at all!

I didn't find this week's CVS ad very interesting. The only thing that I wanted was the Smucker's deal: Buy two Smucker's preserves at 2 for $5, receive $3 in Extra Care Bucks. I had a $1 off 2 coupon and a $4 ECB from last week.  And most groceries are not taxable in my state.

Here's how the deal went:

2 Smucker's strawberry preserves @ 2/$5 = $5.00
- $1/2 Smucker's Jam, Jelly, Preserves or Fruit Spread Product, exp. 12/31/11 (RP 11/06/11)
= $4.00

Total product: $4.00
Pay with $4 ECB
Total out of pocket: $0.00
Total saved compared to CVS full prices: $8.38
ECBs received: $3

So technically it wasn't free - I used $1 more in ECBs than I got back - but it felt great, despite the guilt, to leave without paying a penny!

I did the EXACT same deal! Locked up the self-checkout because of my zero balance...it was AWESOME!
