CVS: Free soap!

The deals at CVS didn't excite me too much this week. My not-so-extreme personal care stockpile is doing pretty well, and I wasn't interested in adding anything to it that I don't regularly use.  The two things in the ad that excited me were the deals on Goodnites (my middle daughter wears them) and the deal on Ivory soap.  So that was all I got!

Transaction #1:
1 Goodnites at $8.99 (receive $2 ECB)

Total product: $8.99
Pay with health care flexible savings account card
Total out of pocket: 0 (of course I did pay for the Goodnites when I put money into the flexible savings account, but I didn't take any money out of my wallet at the time of purchase)
Receive $2 ECB for product and $1 ECB for scanning green bag tag four times

Transaction #2:
4 Ivory soap 3 pack @ 99¢ = $3.96
- 4 $1.00 off Ivory soap coupons from the 5/1 P&G insert
= 4¢ moneymaker

Total product: -4¢
Tax: 24¢
Total out of pocket: 20¢

I was surprised that the cashier wasn't instructed to reduce the last coupon down to 96¢, making the soap free and not a moneymaker, and I was surprised that the total amount of tax was reduced.  But, I'll take it.
