CVS: Cereal and Just the Basics

I love finding cereal deals - and this week CVS had some good ones.

All General Mills cereals (that is, all that they carry) are on sale this week for $1.99 per box. And several cereals have $1 off coupons available, making them 99¢ each!

In addition, CVS is rolling out their "Just the Basics" line of everyday essentials. Some of the items are well priced -  I purchased the 24 pack of water bottles (always good to have on hand in case of an emergency) for $1.98, which is a great price, and the paper towels for 50¢ each, which is my target price for paper towels.

Other items, like laundry detergent, baby wipes, body wash, and shampoo, were priced higher than you can get by combining sales on brand name items with coupons.  But if you desperately need one of these items, I found that the prices were comparable to generics found at the grocery store, Walmart, or Target.

Since I've completed the Drugstore Bootstrap Challenge, and I didn't really find any of the Extra Care Bucks deals interesting, I just stuck with these deals and paid with some of the ECBs I had accumulated during the challenge.  I hope there are some better deals next week!

Here's what I got:

2 Rice Chex @ $1.99 = $3.98
- 2 $1 off Chex cereal printable (no longer available)
= $1.98 for two, or 99¢ each

2 Total @ $1.99 = $3.98
- 2 $1 off Total cereal printable
= $1.98 for two, or 99¢ each

1 Just the Basics purified water 24 pack @ $1.98
= $1.98

2 Just the Basics paper towels @ 50¢
= $1.00

Total product: $6.94
 ECBs used: $5.99
Total after ECBs: 95¢
Tax: 6¢
Total out of pocket: $1.01

That water was a great price. I am thinking of getting one to try. We tried the Gold Emblem brand and didn't like it. Thanks for linking up your CVS shopping trip at Simply CVS.

Where do we return the bottles for 5 cent deposit refund?

I'm sorry, I must have missed this question.

I really don't know. I live in Florida and we do not have a 5 cent deposit here. I would ask at your local store.
