CVS: Free stuff from home mailers

CVS today was full of freebies for me. It was a great trip!

I had received two home mailers which really helped.  One was a postcard with coupons for Herbal Essences shampoo, which I signed up for back in January.  Another was a postcard from CVS with a coupon for a free razor, which expired on Tuesday.  I had been waiting to see if an ECB deal came about for the razor, but it never did, so I used it today.

Here's what I got:

2 Colgate Total toothpaste @ $3.79 each = $7.58, receive $7.58 ECB
- 2 $1/1 Colgate Total toothpaste coupons from the January All You magazine
= $5.58 out of pocket

2 Herbal Essences shampoo @ 2/$5.97, receive $2 ECB
- FREE Herbal Essences shampoo coupon from home mailer
- $1 Herbal Essences shampoo coupon from home mailer
= $1.98 out of pocket

1 Schick Hydro 3 razor @ $8.99
- FREE Schick Hydro 3 or Hydro 5 CVS coupon from home mailer
= FREE

Total out of pocket: $7.56
ECBs used: $6.99
Total product cost: 57¢
Tax: $1.36
Total cash paid: $1.93
Total ECBs received: $9.58

I also received another $1 ECB for having used my green bag tag four times.  So altogether this was a great trip!

Those homemailers can make for amazing savings when combined with extra buck deals. Very nice trip. Thanks for linking up your CVS shopping trip at Simply CVS.

@Candice - the CVS one showed up unbidden - I guess because I have an Extra Care card, I got it. The Herbal Essences one was a deal that was mentioned in many blogs last month - you had to be one of the first 6,000 to request a ooupon on a particular day and time to get it.

So find some deal sites you like and check them daily to find out about available home mailers. Also sign up for mailing lists at the websites of stores and products you like - you might get coupons in the mail from them.

How do I get the homemailers sent to me? As in, where do I sign up for them? Thanks!
