Saving at Kohl's

I usually give tips about saving on groceries, my area of expertise. I don't shop enough at clothing stores to give great tips for saving there.

But one store I shop at regularly is Kohl's.  There's a freestanding Kohl's department store near my house, and I often shop there rather than traveling to the mall.  So even though I'm not a saving fashionista, I have learned some ways to save at Kohl's.

First of all, sign up for their email list.  You'll get advanced notice about all their sales, and you'll get $5 off on your next in-store purchase, and 10% off a purchase online.  Not too bad just for giving out your name and email!

If getting text messages doesn't bother you, you can also sign up for mobile text alerts, and you'll receive a code for 15% off an online purchase.

Watch for their coupons.  Kohl's often has coupons in the newspaper for 15% or 20% off your purchase.  I've often seen stickers on the front of our newspaper for $5 off a purchase of $50 or more.

Sometimes you can earn Kohl's Cash.  When you spend $50, you'll receive $10 in Kohl's Cash; the amount increases by $10 for every $50 you spend.  So if are purchasing items that cost $48, it makes sense to pick up something for $2 - maybe a greeting card - so that your total will go over $50 and you'll receive $10 in Kohl's Cash.

Be sure to redeem your Kohl's Cash during the redemption time - otherwise, you'll lose it!  Combine Kohl's cash with other sales and discounts to save even more!

Shop at Kohl's online as well!  The Kohl's website has a clearance section.  This is easier than searching through the in-store discount racks to find your preferred style and size.  The other great thing about shopping at Kohl's online is that you can use online Kohl's coupon codes.  You'll find codes for discounts on particular items or an entire purchase and for free shipping.  Combine multiple codes to save even more.

Consider getting the Kohl's charge card.  I'm not fond of store credit cards - they often have high interest rates and may charge fees.  But if you have the discipline to pay off the card every month, and don't mind possibly lowering your credit score, then consider getting this card.  Benefits include extra discounts on items 12 times a year and a 15% discount on a single purchase.

Hope these tips help you save at Kohl's!

I like shopping at Kohls and the only time I ever go is when I have coupons and they send alot of them. ^^ I've gotten quite a few $5/$5 and a couple $10/$10 in the last couple years, and most times they've sent out a %off coupon to double up on too.
