Embarrassingly low savings! (Wednesday Weekly Shopping)
I invite you to link up to your best grocery deals below, to inspire others to save more!
This week's savings were embarrassingly low for a coupon shopping blogger. I only ended up saving 20%!
That's because I bought very little at Publix and nothing at the drug stores, and because I bought a lot of meat this week at full price. So, very little savings.
Hopefully my savings percentage will be better next week!
Here's what I got this week:
I also bought kosher meat this week, spending $51.49.
Overall, this week I spent $98.82 for items which retail for $122.85, or a 20% savings based on the retail value of the products at the stores where they were purchased.
For the year (16 weeks), I spent $1,249.79 for items which retailed for $2,238.26 and saved $989.07, or a 44% savings. That's an average of $78.11 spent each week for a family of five (husband, wife, and daughters ages 15, 12, and 7), including lots of fresh produce, dairy items, and kosher meat, as well as paper and plastic goods, health and beauty items, and cleaning supplies.
In 2011, I spent $4,017.13 for items which retailed for $7,344.08, saving 45% and spending an average of $77.25 per week for the year.
In 2012, I spent $4,007.13 for items which retailed for $7,591.37, saving 47% and spending an average of $77.06 per week for the year.
How did your shopping go this week? What bargains did you get? Please leave a link to your blog post about your weekly shopping. The aim is not to brag, but to inspire! I think your shopping trip is very practical and sensible. It may not be a lot of savings in terms of using coupons but you got more value for your buck. Thanks for sharing and for hosting a link-up. :D
Even though I did not buy Kosher, I still bought beef, and it certainly ruined my savings percentage....sometimes we just gotta think about what we need and not about the savings.
