Still worth it? (Wednesday Weekly Shopping)

Coupon Shopping
I invite you to link up to your best grocery deals below, to inspire others to save more!

Yet again, I skipped the drug stores this week.  I really need to get restarted on shopping there - my personal care stockpile is starting to get small in a few areas!

But every time I check, it doesn't seem like there are that many great deals there anymore.  Perhaps it would just be easier to pick up things I need at ALDI if they are there, and Walmart if they are not at ALDI.

What do you think - are the deals at the drug stores still worth an extra trip?

Here's what I got this week:

Overall, this week I spent $44.94 for items which retail for $110.20, or a 60% savings based on the retail value of the products at the stores where they were purchased.

For the year (10 weeks), I spent $741.91 for items which retailed for $1,338.63 and saved $596.72, or a 45% savings. That's an average of $74.19 spent each week for a family of five (husband, wife, and daughters ages 15, 12, and 7), including lots of fresh produce, dairy items, and kosher meat, as well as paper and plastic goods, health and beauty items, and cleaning supplies.

In 2011, I spent $4,017.13 for items which retailed for $7,344.08, saving 45% and spending an average of $77.25 per week for the year.

In 2012, I spent $4,007.13 for items which retailed for $7,591.37, saving 47% and spending an average of $77.06 per week for the year.

How did your shopping go this week? What bargains did you get? Please leave a link to your blog post about your weekly shopping. I don't find the hassle worth it. I like to make my own toiletries and also find good prices at stores like Big Lots and Ross for certain things. I don't have an Aldi anywhere near me, but if I did, I'd probably shop there too.

I don't haunt my local CVS or Walgreens like I used to, but I still find many good deals there (especially CVS.) I live in a town without multiple grocery chains, so the drugstores are the only competition for our regional grocery store.

I'm feeling the same way lately about CVS & RiteAid. I used to find freebies there all the time - products that I actually use. But not over the past few months. I'm hoping it's just a phase with them, and they'll pick back up again soon!

It's worth taking a look inside the drugstore when getting prescriptions filled (weekly for us)they usually have some great knock downs on nutritional aids, supplements, vitamins ect.. The last three bottles of childrens vitamins I bought were at 50% off from theses shelves that were for sale, damaged, overstocked ect.. sometimes it's only a small table set out with the items in one or two boxes. So for me it's still worth a look.
