How to pay for college

Paying for college is something I think about regularly.  My eldest daughter is in 10th grade.  We've saved for her college, but probably not enough.  I recently read that a year at our local state university, including tuition, room, board, and fees, is $17,000 per year!  And that's a state university.  And it's sure to continue to increase!

So we're looking at ways to decrease the cost.  My daughter is a good student, so we're looking into scholarship opportunities.

Here are a couple of books I've read or am now reading about the subject:

We're also looking into scholarships listed online.  One great place to find out about scholarships is ScholarshipsOnline.  They have hundreds of scholarships listed, searchable by type of scholarship and by deadline.  I know we'll be spending lots of time on this site in the coming years.

Have any ideas for saving on college tuition?  Leave a comment below!
