Publix: The problem with shopping early

I shop at Publix on the morning of the first day of the sale week (for me, that's Thursday), so that I can blog about the great deals and share them with you!

But there's a problem with that - my store doesn't always have the signage up for the week's sales, so sometimes I make a mistake.

This week, I picked up 6 12 oz jars of Smucker's jam, which I thought were 50% off.  When I got to the register, they rang up at full price.  Turns out only the 18 oz jars were 50% off.  Luckily I caught the error, asked them to void those purchases, and quickly went to the jam aisle and got 6 of the right size.

Here's what I got this week:

4 Juicy Juice Fruitables, 8 pk, 6.75 oz, @ BOGO $3.25 = $6.50
- 4 $1/1 Juicy Juice Fruitables printable coupon
= $2.50 for four, or 63¢ each

3 Chobani Champions yogurt 4 pk @ $2.50 = $7.50
- 3 $1/1 Chobani Little Champions printable
= $4.50 for three, or $1.50 each

6 Smucker's strawberry jam @ $3.59, 50% off =$10.77
- 6 $0.35/1 Smucker's Jam, Jelly, Preserves or Fruit Spread Product, exp. 7/31/12 (RP 06/10/12 R)
=  $8.67 for six, or $1.45 each

4 Ragu pasta sauce @ BOGO $2.67 = $5.34

- $2 off $25 Doris Italian Market coupon (Recyclebank)

Total out of pocket: $19.01
Total saved compared to Publix full prices: $34.88

At least you realized before you paid for the whole transaction and had to do it all over with customer service and a return. It is always such a hassle either way!! I really need those signs on the shelves too :)
