Publix: They owed me sales tax!

This week at Publix, I had a coupon for everything I put in the cart. Gotta love that!  And when I finished checking out, I ended up with negative tax.  What?

Crazy, huh, but that's how it worked out.  Because the only thing that was taxable were pens, and because that was a moneymaker for me after coupons, the store ended up owing me sales tax.  Very strange, but I guess that's how it works.

Here's what I got:

2 Write Brothers pens @ 2/$1.00 = $1.00
- 2 $1.00 off Write Brothers pens Target printable
= $1.00 moneymaker

2 Hershey's syrup @ BOGO $2.39
- $1/2 Hershey's Syrup or Toppings, exp. 9/30/11 (SS 06/26/11 R)
= $1.39 for two, or 70¢ each

6 Kellogg's Mini -Wheats Touch of Fruit @ BOGO $4.39 = $13.17
- 2 $2.25/3 Kellogg's Special K Multigrain Oats & Honey, Frosted Mini-Wheats Touch of Fruit in the Middle, Rice Krispies Gluten Free, Crunchy Nut or Kellogg's Fiber Plus Caramel Pecan Crunch Cereal, exp. 8/21/11 (RP 07/10/11)
=  $8.67 for six, or $1.45 each

6 Chef Boyardee @ BOGO $1.49 = $4.47
- 2 $0.50/3 Chef Boyardee Product printable (use code 63829897)
=  $3.47 for six, or 58¢ each

4 Hebrew National hot dogs @ BOGO $4.99 = $9.98
- 2 $1/2 Hebrew National coupons from the June All You magazine
= $7.98 for four, or $2.00 each

Total product: $20.51
Tax: -6¢
Total out of pocket: $20.45
Total saved compared to Publix full prices: $43.49
