Shopping at CVS wasn't bliss

I took a trip over to CVS this afternoon, later than usual because of a thunderstorm that went through the area (yay for rain!).  I was planning to get the great deal on Hershey's Bliss candy:

Hershey’s Bliss, 8.6-9.6 oz, $5.99 (receive $5.99 ECB)
- $1.00 off Hershey’s Bliss chocolate manufacturer's coupon from the 5/1 Smartsource insert
= $4.99 ($1.00 moneymaker after ECBs)

But the store was completely out of the chocolate when I got there.  So the trip wasn't bliss for me.

But I did get these deals:

1 Pantene shampoo and 1 Pantene conditioner, 12.6 oz @ 2/$6.97 (receive $2 ECB)
- $3/2 Pantene coupon from the 6/19 Smartsource insert
= $3.97 ($1.97 for two, or 99¢ each, after ECBs)

1 Colgate 360 Surround toothbrush at $2.79 (receive $2 ECB)
- $1.00 off Colgate 360 Surround toothbrush manufacturer's coupon from the May All You magazine
= $1.79 (21¢ moneymaker after ECBs)

Total product: $5.76
Pay with $5 in ECBs from previous trips
Total product after ECBs: 76¢
Tax: 59¢
Total out of pocket: $1.35
ECBs received: $4
Total saved compared to CVS regular prices: $14.21

The Pantene deal was listed as being Limit 1, but according to my receipt, the limit is at least 2.  It says:

Pantene, Buy 2 Get 2 ECB
Quantity Toward this Reward: 2
Quantity Needed to Earn Reward: 2

So I may go do this deal one more time, especially since I am $5 away from reaching $50 in beauty items.  According to my receipt, I should receive an extra $5 ECBs once I pass $50!

I just got my first $5 ECB today for hitting the $50 mark on beauty items. Can't beat the fact that "most" of the beauty items were darn near free in the first place! I Believe there will be a slight lag in when the $5 actually prints...I hit $50 with purchases made on Saturday and my bucks printed today, just so you know. I know I was curious how long it would take to receive them. I enjoy your blog. Have a great day!

Thanks for the heads-up on the printing lag! That makes sense, since on your receipt, your year-to-date spending figure usually runs a few days behind. I guess the computers at CVS headquarters have to get updated with your new information before the order to print the $5 ECB at the register is given.

There was a slight lag in my $5 ECB too! When I went in today it printed when I scanned my card at the scanner... A NICE surprise! :)
