Produce store: Changing the rules

Don't you hate it when a store changes the rules just as you've learned them?

A lot of coupon shoppers are finding that the rules are changing now that "Extreme Couponing" has become a hit. Limits on items are being instituted, or perhaps just being enforced more strictly. Rules on using double coupons or doing multiple transactions are tightening up.

In my case, I had become accustomed to a 50% off sale on Fridays at my local produce store. But when I got there today, I discovered that the sale had changed - the 50% off sale is now on Sundays from 4-8 pm.

Oh, well. The prices are still pretty good even without the 50% off, and I needed some produce for the weekend. I'll go back on Sunday and pick up more for the rest of the week, but here's what I got for now:

1 cantaloupe @ 99¢
1 honeydew @ 99¢
1 pineapple @ $1.49
3 cucumbers @ 3/99¢
1 yellow pepper @ 99¢/lb = 80¢
1 orange pepper @ 99¢/lb = 62¢

Total spent: $6.24

Upon looking at my receipt, I also see a 35¢ charge.  I think this store is charging tax on my purchases - but produce is not taxable in Florida.  I will have to check into this next time I am there.  Lesson: check your receipts!

Last week at my favorite grocery store the cashier was certain she could not accept any coupon. It took me awhile to convince her that each of the coupons were indeed valid and could be used.
The new rule I am running into at my stores is the limit. Most stores want to limit to 4. I almost always buy 6 of everything so this is a problem for me and my family. In some cases it means me going to even more stoes! UGH! !!!!
