ALDI: Where's the cocoa?

I took a trip over to ALDI to pick up milk, eggs, and a few items needed for my daughter's upcoming birthday party. I also wanted to pick up some baking cocoa - not the hot drink kind, but the unsweetened kind you use in dessert recipes. I've bought it there before, and the price was much less than the similar product at Walmart (the next least expensive source).

I went to the baking area, where the flour and sugar and other baking essentials are kept. I looked, and looked, and looked... no cocoa!

This is one of the major weaknesses of ALDI - since they only carry one brand of each item - their house brand - if they're out, they're out. I left without cocoa, and I'll have to pay more for it somewhere else.  But what can you do?

Here's what I got at ALDI this week:

3 dozen eggs @ $1.29 = $3.87
2 gallons milk @ $1.99 = $3.98
1 3-lb bag Fuji aples @ $2.79
1 lb. butter @ $2.29
1 chocolate syrup @ $1.39
1 jar sprinkles @ $2.99

Total spent: $17.31

The same thing happened to me today. I was looking for their frozen deep dish pie shells that were just $1.59 for a two pack. They had always said seasonal item, but they've been around since before Thanksgiving. Now all of a sudden they are gone. It was the only thing on my list I couldn't get there, so I'm either going to have to pay extremely more for them, so break down and make my own...but i fell that may not be a good idea with a preschooler and a toddler in the house. ;)

I'm going to have to stop checking out your Aldi posts because every time I do, I get jealous. :-) Sigh. Maybe someday it'll come to SW Florida....

I love your title, because I asked that same questions a few weeks ago. I was told...April...maybe!!1 I am holding off until they get it back:) I think the cheapest baking cocoa besides Aldi is at Target...the Nestle kind.
