Walgreens: Brown sugar and TP

I made a quick trip over to Walgreens a little while ago. The Register Rewards deals didn't really interest me this week, but I had $10 in RRs to spend today. (I let $5 in RRs from this trip expire a few days ago unspent - ack!)

So I decided to get two things for which there were in-ad coupons this week - brown sugar and toilet paper.  We use lots of brown sugar in recipes like challah and chocolate chip blondies.  And the toilet paper - who couldn't use more toilet paper?

I bought four boxes of brown sugar, though the in-ad coupon says there's a limit of three.  I was going to split it into two transactions, but the cashier said it was okay to get four.  Who am I to argue?  (It worked fine.)

3 packs Charmin Basic bath tissue @ $2.99 (with in-ad coupon) = $8.97 (original price $3.49 each)
- 3 25¢ off Charmin coupons from the 2/27 Procter & Gamble insert
= $8.22 for three, or $2.74 each

4 boxes Domino brown sugar @ 79¢ (with in-ad coupon) = $3.16 (original price $1.29 each)
- 2 75¢/2 Domino coupons from the 3/27 RedPlum insert
= $1.66 for four boxes, or 42¢ each

1 Russell Stover chocolate truffle egg @ 29¢ (extra item)

Total product before RRs: $10.17
Paid with $10.RR
Total product after RRs: 17¢
Tax: 56¢
Total out of pocket: 73¢
Total saved: $16.05

Good Job! I am going to have to get back to searching for deals again. I have to watch myself because I can get carried away!

Great Job. I always spend my RR right away and almost always on TP as it is a no brainer.
I hate that RR expire as I see them as cash so I just use them right away and then I never have to worry about loosing out on that cash. I buy either a gift , a greeting card or TP that way I know I have something for later that will get used.

Great job. I was reading the sugar coupon and it says 24oz or larger. Did you have any problems with the coupon? Do they normally ring up even if they are the wrong size? Just curious. I know every store is different. I normally don't go to Walgreens. If I did go to Walgreens this week, it would only be for the sugar. It would be a wasted trip if it doesn't work. Thanks for any help you can provide.

You did great! I am curious about the sugar coupon too, and after seeing your deal, I just remembered that I have a coupon for the toilet paper....and we are almost out.
