Wednesday Weekly Shopping: Almost, but not quite

I invite you to link up to your best grocery deals below, to inspire others to save more!

Last week, I went way over budget, replacing items that I had used up during the Clean Out the Cupboards Challenge.  This week, I was determined to stay under budget.

My first problem occurred when I made the same mistake twice while paying for items at CVS and Walgreens, which increased my out-of-pocket costs.  So I made sure to enter what I had bought so far in my shopping spreadsheet so that when I finished shopping on Monday, I wouldn't go over budget.

Well, I guess I rounded down a number, or forgot to include tax.  Because I ended up going 30 cents over my budget.  Now, this isn't really something to get too stressed about, but I was a little disappointed.

Besides the items at CVS and Walgreens, I also got some great Super Bowl food deals at Target and Publix.  I went to ALDI twice, got a few items at Winn-Dixie and Walmart, and bought veggies at a local supermarket.

Overall, this week I spent $80.30 for items which retail for $155.21, or a 48% savings.  (But don't compare percentages!)  Of course, if I compared the ALDI prices to supermarket full prices, it would show a lot more savings.

For the year (6 weeks), I've spent $327.12 for items which retail for $580.21, or a 44% savings.  That's an average of $54.52 spent each week.

See all my shopping here.

Isn't it funny how we can get bent out of shape going over the budget even if it is only by cents.
