Check your local grocery ads!

I went out to do my shopping this morning (see the results in Wednesday Weekly Shopping tomorrow - and link up the deals you got, too!), and before I went out, I checked my favorite bloggers to see what the best deals were at my local grocery stores.

I saw one deal that I thought was good: Dannon yogurt was on sale for 40¢ per 6 oz cup.  Combined with this 50¢ off 6 Dannon Yogurt Fruit on the Bottom coupon, that would be $2.40 - $0.50, or $1.90 for six, or about 32¢ each.  That beats the price of yogurt from my ALDI price list, which is 37¢ per 6 oz cup.

So, I printed out the coupon, assured that I was getting a great deal.  Except...

When I got to the store, I found that my local price was 50¢ per cup.  So for 6 cups, my price would be $3.00 - $0.50 = $2.50, or 42¢ per cup.  Oops.  ALDI would have been a better deal.  (I bought the yogurt anyway, since I had already been to ALDI the day before.)

The moral of the story?  Check your local ad for your grocery store - prices are not the same in all areas!  Or, find matchups from a blogger who lives in your area, if possible.
