Wednesday Weekly Shopping: My new savings method

I invite you to link up to your best grocery deals below!

This week, I had another really good shopping week. I employed my new savings method to save big at CVS.  There, I was able to get cereal, deodorant, toilet paper, milk, dental rinse, and baby wipes, all for free!  In fact, I am so happy with this system, I may start to bring down my grocery budget (currently at $80 per week, including paper goods, cleaning items, and personal care items) down to $70 or less.  Or, I may allow myself to stockpile more sale items.

I hit lots of BOGO items like olive oil, oatmeal, and tuna at Winn-Dixie and Publix; even without coupons, these were good deals.  I used to pass on BOGO items when I didn't have a matching coupon.  But then I'd run out of the item before another BOGO appeared, and I'd have to pay full price for the item.  Yuck.  So now, if it's an item I use a lot, I'll buy it when it goes BOGO, even if I don't have a coupon matchup.  Of course, when there is a coupon matchup, I'll buy as many of the item as I can!

We didn't need as much as usual, as we still had food left over from visitors.  But I was still able to keep the cash budget to $64.41 for items worth $260.32, or a 75% savings.  But, to be fair, I should also include the amount that I spent with my Flexible Savings Account. So together, cash, and FSA, I spent $125.67, or 52% savings.

Check out the following to see how others shopped this week!
