Clear Out the Clutter Challenge: Front hallway

Clutter removal, day 1!  I'm taking part in the Clear Out the Clutter Challenge, hosted by Crystal over at Money Saving Mom

Check here for my clutter-clearing goals.

Crystal's first challenge was to clean out the hall or coat closet.

But, here in Florida, I *don't* have a hall or coat closet. Really!  We don't need coats eleven months a year, so I guess the builder of this house decided that it wasn't necessary to put one in.

Instead, I cleaned up my front hallway.  It consists of a long, thin table with baskets underneath.  The baskets are there, supposedly, to hold things temporarily that are coming in or going out.  But apparently a few things ended up living there permanently.  I got rid of lots of school papers, a broken umbrella, three Bayer contour monitors that I got with deals at Walgreens and CVS (I will donate these), and some old Rachael Ray magazines that I got with the Sorrento mozzarella deal at Publix last December.  And a lot of my kids' socks, receipts, and other extra stuff.

So now, it's neat!  Sorry, but I'm not brave enough to show pictures, but trust me, the table and baskets will do their job now.  I even cleaned up all the fingerprints on the inside of the front door with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (subscribe to Home Made Simple to get coupon books that usually include Magic Eraser coupons).  And it looks nice and calm at the front entrance, just as I had hoped.

I wish we didn't need a coat closet, but living in OH we really need more than one even.
