Eat from the Pantry Challenge: Goals

I am taking the Eat from the Pantry Challenge for the month of January, hosted by Life as MOM and Money Saving Mom. Since I've been coupon crazy since September, I have a lot of food in the pantry to use up! There are also lots of items in the freezer and refrigerator as well. Here are some of my goals for the month:

  • Take inventory of the items in my freezer, refrigerator, and pantry, make a priority list of items to use up, and throw away anything beyond its use-by date.
  • Purchase only dairy, eggs, produce, sandwich bread, and needed baking supplies, as well as any items for rock-bottom prices that I don't currently have in my pantry. (Wow, that is a lot of exceptions!)
  • Spend $60 per week (down from my usual $100 per week, which is down from $150-$200 per week just a few months ago) on groceries, personal care items, and cleaning supplies, and put the remainder into savings. I know that a lot of people doing this challenge will be spending much less, but we are all different and have different situations.
