Publix: All that planning for nothing!

I had a lousy trip to Publix this week...

I had planned to load up on lots of Barilla pasta, with six copies of the $1/2 Barilla Plus, Veggie, Whole Grain or White Fiber Pasta, exp. 3/2/13 (SS 01/06/13).  But when I got to the store, I discovered that the only pasta I could get with the coupon was the whole grain.  The Barilla Plus wasn't included in the sale, and the Veggie was 12 oz whereas the sale was for 13.25-16 oz boxes.  And my store didn't carry the White Fiber Pasta.   Since I still have lots of boxes of whole grain pasta (no one likes them, so I only use them when I have a heavy sauce to cover it), I didn't get any pasta.

Oh, well, I know that Italian Days is coming up very soon, so there should be some good pasta deals then!

I also was hoping to get some New York garlic knots with a 50% off sale and this coupon for $0.50/1 New York Garlic Knots, exp. 3/31/13 (SS 01/27/13).  But again, my store did not carry that product.  I hadn't brought the accompanying coupon for $0.40/1 New York Frozen Product, exp. 3/31/13 (SS 01/27/13 R) that I could have used for any product, so I ended up not buying bread.  (Moral of the story: bring extra coupons if you think there might be a problem!)

So I only ended up getting a few things.  Here's what I did manage to get:

2 Kraft shredded sharp cheddar @ BOGO $3.99
- $0.55/2 Kraft Cheese, exp. 2/20/13 (SS 01/20/13 R)
= $3.44 for two, or $1.72 each

1 Philadelphia Indulgence chocolate cream cheese @ $1.50
- $0.55/1 Philadelphia Indulgence Cream Cheese Spread, exp. 3/2/13 (SS 01/27/13 R)
= 95¢

2 Sabra veggie dip @ BOGO $3.99
- 2 $1.50/1 Sabra Veggie Dip, exp. 2/28/13 (SS 01/13/13 R)
= 99¢ for two, or 50¢ each

Total out of pocket: $5.38
Total saved compared to Publix full prices: $13.57

I didn't get that Kraft coupon:(, and yes I have run into the same Barilla issue before, so I didn't even bring the coupons along this time. I usually mix regular and whole wheat pasta that seems to do the trick.

Thanks for linking up at thecouponingcouple! I ran into the same issue with the garlic knots and i was so looking forward to getting them! There's a printable out there for .50/1 Any New York product you might want to get instead of using the .40/1 from your paper if you go back! :)

With the Whole Grain Pasta don't try to pass it off as regular insted make an asian style dish with fresh stir fry veggies, some toasted sesame seeds, soy sauce and sesame seed oil or other sauce that have a soy base.
