Only spent half my budget! (Wednesday Weekly Shopping)

Coupon Shopping
I invite you to link up to your best grocery deals below, to inspire others to save more!

I recently realized that I've barely played the Drugstore Game this year.  I haven't shopped at CVS and Walgreens (no Rite Aid in my area) and used Extra Care Bucks or Register Rewards combined with sales and coupons to get things for free or cheap.

That's partly because the deals haven't been so great this year, but a lot because I've just gotten out of the habit.  I've got to get back into the Drugstore Game - I plan to get going again this weekend!

I only did a little grocery shopping this week - none at Publix, just two trips to ALDI and one to Western Beef. No coupons this week, either.  But I only spent half my allotted budget.  Yay!

Here's what I got this week:

Overall, this week I spent $44.20 for items which retail for $44.20, or a 0% savings based on the retail value of the products at the stores where they were purchased.  (But don't compare percentages! Really! I mean it this week!)

For the year (15 weeks), I spent $1086.64 for items which retailed for $2036.13, and saved $949.49, or a 47% savings. That's an average of $72.44 spent each week for a family of five (husband, wife, and daughters ages 14, 11, and 6), including lots of fresh produce, dairy items, and kosher meat.

In 2011, I spent $4017.13 for items which retailed for $7344.08, saving 45% and spending an average of $77.25 per week for the year.

How did your shopping go this week? What bargains did you get? Please leave a link to your blog post about your weekly shopping. The aim is not to brag, but to inspire!  Please link up directly to your post, not to the blog itself. I'd appreciate it if you put a link to Wednesday Weekly Shopping in your post as well. If you don't have a blog, please leave a comment!

Way to go on staying under budget! That will give you some room, or at least make up for weeks where you went over. I have been under budget for two weeks in a row now, but my I seriously cannot fit anything else into my pantry, fridge or freezer.

I noticed the price increase on eggs at Aldi too, but I stocked up on $0.50 eggs via price match at Walmart not too long ago, so we are all good for a few weeks.

Stopping playing the drugstore game sometimes helps the budget because I find that I don't worry about spending money just to use the ECBS, RR, ect. I just got back in with CVS a few weeks ago and ended up spending some money that was expiring on junk food instead of anything else. Of course, it was a entertaining trip for my son and we got what he wanted for a special treat and only spent $0.07 so I guess it all works out well enough. Saving my ECBs for next week to get olive oil :)
